A subject you've enjoyed studing this semester

Imagen
Hello class, today I'll talk about my favorite subject this semester is local climatology, the class is very dynamic and the subject relates how the anthropic action of human beings has caused forced changes in the climate in different magnitudes, but in this subject is studied at a local scale as in a region or city. The contents we have seen are: Solar radiation, urban climate, climate change, climate perception, pollution, among others. I like this subject because we can study the effects of climate change in the different cities of our country and the future risks that the inhabitants will have to face, as extreme heat waves, extreme cold waves, frontal systems, etc. Consequently, the state must take new measures to combat these climatic phenomena because it is a risk for all city dwellers, ecosystems must also be protected to balance the effects of climate change, an example are the wetlands that help regulate the temperature, currently many of them are in danger. Who is a person/expert on your field that you admire?

Imagen
Hello everyone, the person I admire is the geographer David Harvey, recognized for his academic contributions related to social phenomena in the territory as an effect of the capitalist economic model. Harvey was born on 1935 in the United Kingdom, studied at Cambridge University and has been a professor at Johns Hopkins, Oxford, New York, and the London School of Economics. His work is related to the branch of radical geography, where he presents the relationship between urbanism and social inequality. Some of his most famous publications are: "Spaces of Hope" (2003), "The New Imperialism" (2004), "A Brief History of Neoliberalism" (2007), From the Right of the City to the Urban Revolution" (2013), among others. I really like the topics developed by this author; he is a contemporary geographer whose studies on social inequality produced by the capitalist system help us to understand all the current social problems. In his book "The Right...

How can ur major make the world a better place.

Imagen
Hello class! As I mentioned before, I am currently studying geography in my second year of university. Geography is a multidisciplinary science that studies how human beings/society relate to space (it can be understood from a physical perspective as earth sciences or in a social way). in my opinion, geography is a career that should have more recognition because it contributes to understand all the territorial problems that exist today. For example, in Chile the extractivist economy has serious consequences for the ecosystem of our country, a geographic perspective is important for the protection of the territories. In the future I would like to contribute to the protection of our territories and that Chile can innovate production systems where they are more sustainable and environmentally friendly. Geography is a fundamental discipline to face future environmental challenges because society is affected by the impacts of climate change. I dream of a world where ecosystems ar...

A photograph and its story

Imagen
This photograph was taken in the summer of 2018, that year was amazing for me. The letters written in the sand beach represent my best friend's name and mine. we went to "Tabo", it was the first time we went together to a place outside of Santiago so it was a lot of fun. Also, that same day an anecdote happened to us, we burnt in the sun haha it was a bit painful. When I see this picture it immediately comes to my mind the year 2018, I don't know why but I feel that during that period I had unforgettable memories. I remember the day of the photograph very well. The night before my best friend stayed over at my house, the next day we left early for the beach. It was cloudy but it was perfect to go for a walk. I have many memories with my best friend, but that day was very special, I can't explain how important she is to me.

A meal or food you really like

Imagen
Hello class, Today I'll talk about my favorite food. I love pasta💖, I feel that it is a common dish but very delicious. To prepare it, you must boil water in a pot, when the water is already boiling add the pasta. You can prepare the pasta with the sauce that you like the most. In my case, I like it with tomato sauce and vegetables. I like it so much because it can be prepared in a very short time and taste its exquisite. I remember that before the pandemic, with my group of friends when we got home from a party we cooked pasta. I think that pasta isn’t a dish that affects your health very much if you eat it in a balanced way, but you shouldn’t eat it every day because there must be a balance of carbohydrates.

My favorite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my cellphone. When I was a child I used it to play, but currently it’s a very important communication tool for me. I consider that is a small part of me because I take photographs, I talk with my friends, I watch videos on tiktok and I listen to my favorite music. I use my cellphone about 3 hours a day, but with the quarantine I started to use my cellphone more frequently during the day and night to distracts me. This technology is my favorite because it is a small thing and we can communicate with people who are far away from us.  Thanks to the social networks on my phone as WhatsApp, I was to make friends to classmates from geography career.  My life without cellphone would be strange because I would feel disconnected from my friends.   Best friend call

Why did I choose my major?

Imagen
Hello class!❤ As I said in the previous post, I’m studying geography currently in my second year, I study this career because one day my teacher of history in the school told me that my interests for the environment and society are related whit the geography, but I still didn’t know what to study when I graduated. After I investigated about this career, it became was my first option. When I was a child, my dream job was to be a model, over the years I did many photographic sessions but nowadays it’s a hobbit for me. When I decided what to study, geography was my only option, I didn’t think other but really, I love my career. My experience at the university has been totally different, I planned go to class before the pandemic.  .My classmates motivate me to continue with virtual class, they are the best.
